about nyuung
nyuung noy (pronounced like the onomatopoeia nyoom and meaning little mosquito) or affectionately called teeny, tea or nini, (no pronouns/they) is a diasporic Black Lao Viet, queer, disabled artist with a 2d+3d game art and poetry background. They mostly focus on digital illustration, but their art practice sometimes includes game dev, painting, writing, and/or crochet. A lot of nyuung's work is inspired by coping with disability, chronic pain, and mental health - whether by grounding in what they call the magical mundane or giving the pain in their body "somewhere else to live."
nyuung is currently on hiatus to focus on their health. Previously, they have provided caregiving, participated in Code Coven's Intro for Gamemaking in Unreal course, worked in child care, built up an esports program at their local park district, volunteered in suicide intervention, and studied game art at college. nyuung prides themself in bringing full care to everything nyuung does and seeks to find ways to marry their care for others with their art practice.
